Gislöv

Gislöv is a collection of houses and farms spread around a four-way intersection five kilometres southwest of Simrishamn and is one of the smallest villages in Österlen. Gislöv also has a hotel with a fine restaurant, Karnelund, and Skåne's building conservation centre. The nearest village with services is Skillinge, there are various shops, elderly care, restaurants and ship's stores. A number of popular bed & breakfast establishments are located in the area for easily understandable reasons.

One kilometre south-west of the village is Gislöv's Star, a beautiful deciduous forest bordered by extensive natural pastures. Here, in spring and early summer, you can enjoy the splendid blossoming, inventive birdsong and the play of the bell frogs. In the middle of the forest is the popular Stjärnan entertainment venue, which in its day attracted thousands of dancing and entertainment fans to various events (The Who played here on 22 October 1966, for example!). The countryside around the village is dominated by fields, but here and there the mountain is exposed and in several places around Gislöv you can see the traces of quarrying.

The four roads that meet in Gislöv lead to Simrishamn, Brantevik, Skillinge and Borrby. By bike you can easily get the almost two kilometres to the beach at Gislövshammar. Skillinge we have three kilometres south and Simrishamn half a mile to the north-west. Bus service southwards towards Skillinge and Ystad and northwards towards Simrishamn are available.
