Bollerup

Seven kilometres southeast of Tomelilla, in the middle of the fertile, but by no means pancake-flat plain, lies Bollerup, a village where old meets new in a very tangible way. About the same age as Glimmingehus, i.e. built towards the end of the 1400s, Bollerup Castle was restored to its original condition in the 1940s. Not far from Bollerup is also Tosterup Castle.

The main road through Bollerup winds gently between old and much newer buildings. Here you can meet horses, ducks and most likely young students all year round. Agriculture has always played an important role in Bollerup and when the mayor of Ystad, Tage Ludvig Sylvan, bought the estate after the death of King Carl XIV Johan, he was determined that Bollerup would become an agricultural institute. Since 1903, Bollerup has been an agricultural school. Nowadays, more than 300 students attend Bollerups Naturbruksgymnasium, a very popular high school in boarding school, an eldorado for horse enthusiasts.

The nature around Bollerup's village is farmland, but with a lot of tree groves on the low elevations that cross the area.
Near the moat-surrounded castle is Bollerup Church, built as a castle church. The oldest parts are from the 1100s.
The nearest major town is Tomelilla , with expanded services of all kinds. Two miles to the east is Simrishamn and two miles to the southwest is Ystad. A local bus passes through Bollerup.
