Bolshög

Two kilometers straight south of Ö. Tommarp is the village of Bolshög, just a stone's throw from the best preserved medieval castle in the Nordic region, Glimmingehus. The church in the village dates from the 12th century and is easily recognized by its flat roof. For many, Bolshög is best known for the spectacular grave just southeast of the church, Bol's or Boel's mound.

One legend says that King Boel is buried here, while another says that the giantess Boel is guarding her buried treasure in a copper coffin. In the neighboring villages of Ö. Tommarp and Vallby, cultural life is now both rich and broad. The nearest town with a school, restaurant and shops is Hammenhög, six kilometers to the west, but Simrishamn can also be reached by car in five minutes via highway 9.
