Snapparp

Nestled in a beautiful deciduous forest, little Snapparp lies in a hilly landscape just south of St. Olof, east of the road between St. Olof and Smedstorp. The village is sparsely populated with older farms and a few houses along the narrow gravel road. Idyll is almost a weak expression.

Nature is powerful with dry heaths, juniper fields, wet meadows, bogs and marshes. The forest is very diverse. There are many beech trees, but hornbeam is also common in places. Pastures with stone fences are common. The long-legged frog, lesser spotted woodpecker and dormouse thrive here, and the environment is perfect for mosses and lichens.

The nearest major town with a school, retirement home, outdoor swimming pool, bus connections, shops, etc. is S:t Olof two kilometers to the north. Popular bogs for those interested in birds are Gedings mosse and Den dödas lott.

Near Snapparp is a large boulder that has long been considered a boundary stone between Gyllebo, Älmhult and Snapparp. It is said to resemble a pile of butter and is called Smörstackastenen.
