UNIQUE SALMON / SEA TROUT FISHING IN ÖSTERLEN

A dream for all anglers / anglers' dream

A recreational fisherman's wet dream

Period October 1 - June 30

We offer salmon fishing starting at the end of September when the salmon usually start to bite. Then there is fishing throughout the fall and winter until the beginning of June. The fishing in the fall is very dependent on the wind / weather but if the conditions are good, the fishing is good. In principle, there is good fishing all winter if the weather is ok.

There is access to 2 large boats with guide/skipper with Simrishamn as the starting port. More boats can be arranged for larger groups.

If the winter is reasonably mild, coastal adventures with sea trout in sight may be tempting. But before you put on your waders and hit the waves, you need to know the rules:

In the coastal waters of the Swedish south coast, defined as the area south of the Kullen lighthouse to the Torhamn headland, fishing for salmon and sea trout is prohibited from September 15 to December 31. On the west coast, you have to wait until 1 April before sea trout becomes legal.

The minimum size for sea trout is 50 cm (45 cm on the west coast). Please also note that there are conservation areas where fishing is prohibited.
On the east coast there is no general ban on sea trout, but a number of closed areas help to allow sea trout and salmon to spawn in peace. The minimum size is the same as along the south coast, 50 centimeters. In freshwater, regulations may be completely different, so always check the rules. You can keep a maximum of two fish, whether salmon or trout, per angler per day when fishing with hand gear in the Kattegat.

The county administrative boards in each county have detailed information about fishing on their websites, which can be found at www.lansstyrelsen.se.

During the cold season, fish sometimes slow down, so it's important to find the fish that are willing to bite. Vary your fishing speed, try different sizes of lures and look for life in the water. If you find small marlins or shrimps, such imitations can be the right medicine. If the water is full of spikes, you know what the trout have on the menu. Try your hand at fishing both shallow and a little deeper. And remember to release any fish that have been released, which is not good food anyway. Keep only one food fish and have fun out there. Don't forget warm clothes.

Psst: Always check with your local County Council for any changes to the regulations!
