Kiviks Museum

Discover Kiviks Museum - a time capsule that holds the rich history of Österlen from the Stone Age to the present day. Founded in 1890 by the passionate Ola Cappelin and then taken over by the Kiviks Hembygds- och Museiförening in 1947, the museum celebrated its impressive 130th anniversary in 2020. Deeply rooted in the cultural heritage of the Kiviks area, the Kiviks Museum & Archive Foundation owns all the fascinating collections and the extensive archive, with the mission to care for, document and research this unique corner of Sweden.

For the adventurous visitor, Kivik Museum offers more than just static exhibits. Embark on a journey through history with our audio guides, slide shows, films and maps, where over 5000 objects from different time periods bring Kivik's colorful past to life. Learn about fishing and shipping during Kivik's heyday as a shipping community, explore the role of simple peasant life as a breeding ground for entrepreneurship and Sweden's Apple Kingdom, and discover how Scandinavia's largest market has its roots in the mysterious Bronze Age Kiviksgrav and the mythical Iron Age Maletofta.

For those seeking even more interactivity and adventure, Kiviks Museum offers exciting activities and guided walks. Explore the museum and the surrounding area with historical tours from Ravlunda to Stenshuvud and from Hanöbukten to Bästekille, Grevlunda and Axelhult. Our themes vary, and each walk is an opportunity to immerse yourself in the rich history of Kivik.
