After two years of guest performances from Malmö Opera Orchestra, this summer we return to our traditional opera festival, but we keep the new date, the weekend before midsummer. The 2024 opera is Cinderella.
Gioacchino Rossini's Cinderella - or Goodness Triumphant is a comic opera in two acts that premiered in 1817. It is one of Rossini's most popular operas, known for its lively and virtuoso vocal numbers.
We are all familiar with the tale of the good Cinderella who, despite her life in the ashes, eventually wins the love of the prince and half the kingdom.
At Drakamöllan, we will experience a fast-paced performance with many twists and turns, where Cinderella is the great heroine who breaks the traditional female trap.
Our Cinderella is Josefine Andersson, who made her debut at Folkoperan in Stockholm in the fall of 2023. The reviews were absolutely brilliant.
Josefine has for many years been one of our most faithful performers, last year as the maid Suzuki in Madama Butterfly. Other participants: Signe Asmussen, Petter Moen, Niels Jörgen Riis, Frederik Rohlin, Guido Paevatalu, Hans Lawaetz and a quartet led by Leif Greibe.
Cinderella is guidOpera's 15th complete opera production which premieres at Drakamöllan. From here, the show traditionally goes on tour throughout Denmark.
