Tunby

A number of farms north of Smedstorp and west of Tunbyholmssjön have the address Tunby. There are active large agricultural properties here, but also detached farms and individual single-family houses.
The surroundings are hilly agricultural landscape with continuous deciduous forest in the north.

The best known is probably Tunbyholm Castle, which was built in 1634 and was originally an example of the Christian IV Renaissance. The castle has a varied history. Linnaeus visited Tunbyholm during his journey to Skåne. The castle was ravaged by fire. The current building dates from 1834.
In 1918 the buildings were subdivided and the Akrell family became the owners, who still inhabit the castle. Many fishermen take the opportunity to challenge the lake's eel and pike stocks.

Parts of Hans Alfredson's The Simple Murderer were filmed here. Just west of the lake are the ruins of the old parish church. North of the lake is the so-called Järnkällan, which once attracted many with its allegedly healthy water.

The nearest towns with schools and other services are Smedstorp about half a mile south, S:t Olof and Onslunda, both about half a mile north and west respectively.
The distance to the central town of Tomelilla is about one and a half miles.
