Göran Danielsson is a trained gambist, and has been associated with the Ensemble Mare Balticum and the Drottningholm Baroque Ensemble. The concert, which is interspersed with narration, presents both original works from the 17th and 18th centuries, as well as Göran's own transcriptions of more contemporary music.
The repertoire includes music from the early 17th century by Tobias Hume, reminiscent of Shakespeare's days. There is a collection of gamba music from the Swedish imperial era that Göran uses frequently - short audience-friendly pieces, pure entertainment music!
The instrument was strongly associated with the court of Louis XIV, and so music by Marin Marais, or by other contemporary Frenchmen, may also appear.
Music by more famous composers such as Bach, Handel and Mozart is included, as well as well-known pieces such as Can't help falling in love, Over the Rainbow, and Gabriella's Song.
