Järrestad

Järrestad is in a quiet location since highway 9 was routed outside the community, but still close enough for easy access to bus services.

Järrestad is a village with a very old history. In and around the village there are plenty of ancient monuments, burial mounds and rock carvings. Many historically interested people visit the fantastic rock carvings at Vilhelmsberg on the road between Järrestad and Gladsax where there are more than 550 figures carved in the hall.

Most famous is the difficult-to-interpret carving of the Dancer. To the south of the village, the Tommarpsån river, a rather modest, salmon-bearing watercourse.

The railway runs through the village, but if you want to use the Pågatåget train, you can travel the five kilometers to the station in Simrishamn. A pedestrian and cycle path leads to the central town, where there are full services such as schools, shops and hospitals.
