High above the Baltic Sea, with a view that stretches for miles, lies Vitaby church with the church village consisting of a small number of farms below the church hill. It was here at Vitaby church that Bombi Bitt met Nils Galilé on his way to Kivik market - at least if we are to believe Fritiof Nilsson Piraten.
The long line of summer markets in Skåne begins every year with Vitaby market one day in May. Vitaby's surroundings consist of an agricultural landscape with elements of pastures, groves and bushes. In the west, the landscape is dominated by large, undisturbed coniferous forests.
Down the slopes towards White mole and the popular beach are easily reached by bike, about three kilometres. The nearest town with services such as schools, nursing homes, etc. Kivik, four kilometres to the east or Sankt Olof 7 kilometres to the south.
