Grevlunda

Grevlunda hills almost double the height of Stenshuvud and the hilly landscape is very popular with nature lovers. Grevlunda is a small village, quite stretched out west of the railway, which in summer is served by the lively Skånska järnväg steam trains pulled by rumbling steam locomotives.

The view from parts of the village towards Onslunda is magnificent. Down by the stream, which eventually flows into the sea at White mole, there is a famous ancient monument, the round Vallabacken castle.

Vallabacken is mentioned in the old saga of Ragnar Lodbrok and the first owner of the castle may have belonged to the Galen family. The stream is still a salmon-bearing water and is said to have been navigable in times gone by, perhaps as far as St Olof.

The nearest larger communities with a grocery store, bakery, restaurants, school and retirement home are Kivik and St Olof and the distance down to the beach at White mole is no more than half a mile. The Waldorf school Sophiaskolan in Pipework is only about 10 km away, there are also several Waldorf schools in the area and a Montessori preschool at Stenshuvud.

Worth mentioning is the proximity to the popular restaurants; Peaceful farmhouse, Brösarp Guest House, Mandelmann's garden, Buhres fish and delicatessen, Talldungen farm restaurant and other culinary experiences.

Grevlunda has daily bus connections northwards to Brösarp and Kristianstad and southwards towards Simrishamn. Grevlundagården is an equestrian paradise where Olympic medallist Peder Fredricson and his wife Lisen Bratt Fredricson run extensive operations.
