Here the sea marries fabulous nature. The beach from the charming summer village of Knäbäckshusen is steep, but the beach is Österlen's best and most beautiful morning beach with views down to Simrishamn and up towards the familiar silhouette of Stenshuvud.
The history of the village is special. Knäbäck was a poor fishing village in a depression at Haväng. When the area was turned into a defence firing range, all the inhabitants were moved. Some houses were dismantled and rebuilt where the village is today, just south-east of the holiday village Rörum beach.
Soon after the half-timbered houses were built, a fire broke out and destroyed all but one. Everything was rebuilt and is today a pleasant idyll in rolling terrain with orchards, juniper hills, the national park Stenshuvud in the north and the sea in the east.
On the slope just below the village street is a small chapel, which is frequently used for weddings in the summer. On both sides of Knäbäcksstranden, two small rivers flow out, Rörums norra and Rörums södra å.
