In 1499 Jens Holgersen Ulfstand laid the foundation for Glimmingehus, one of Sweden's best preserved medieval castles. The history of the castle is an adventure in itself and with generous opening hours, there are plenty of opportunities to get to know this memorial. Glimmingehus was a very large landowner in the distant past. It is likely that it was farm labourers, who had their daily work on the estate, who built the houses in the small peaceful village of Rogamad just west of the castle a short distance south of the road from the castle towards Vallby.
Rogamad, the marshland where the rooks live, consists of thirteen houses, the vast majority of which are occupied by part-time residents. They are typical low Skåne houses, built between 1855 and 1900. The land where Rogamad is located was once peat bog that was heavily utilised, but when other heating alternatives were developed, some of the residents of the village were given the opportunity to acquire land and several of the houses were extended and turned into small farms. The nearest larger towns with schools and other services are Hammenhög half a mile to the west and Borrby half a kilometre to the south. The distance to Borrby beach and Kyhl is about seven kilometres.
