The area south-eastwards from Tomelilla still characterised by the estates Bollerup, S Herrestad, Tosterup, Högestad, Övrabyborg and Örup. The relationship between the main farm and the outlying farm can still be traced here, and the villages still have a medieval flavour. The often vast fields are broken by large avenues and groves of beech or oak. The oldest buildings on the estates are in stone and show how important the area once was.
The farms and houses in little Nedraby lie as if on a string in the hilly landscape, created by the now quiet Örups and Nybroå rivers. Here is the spring that gives Ystad municipality its good drinking water, Allevad Mill. The Tomelillaorten beekeepers' association is located here. In these farmlands, interrupted by riverbanks and pastures, the flowers are abundant and the bees' field of work is rich.
Nedraby is an ancient village. Finds at the impressive church ruins show that people have lived here for at least a thousand years.
The road down to Nedraby is signposted on national road 19 after Benestad direction towards Ystad. The church, which is now a well-visited ruin, was called Arvelunda-Nedraby church. The village was its own parish and in the 17th century became too small to support a priest, so in 1635 the parish was merged with the neighbouring parishes and because Nedraby church, built as early as 1250, was in poor condition, it was abandoned. But the cemetery was used after the church was closed, and the ruin and the cemetery are still used occasionally today.
In and around the village we see elements of agricultural industrial environments, such as a number of mills of which Övraby mill is the most famous, but also of Allevad's dairy and Vallabäcken's starch factory from the early 1900s.
Perhaps the most visited business in Nedraby is probably Britta's Spettkaksbageri, where the old craft of baking over an open fire is still alive and attracts many interested parties.
The nearest major town with schools and other services is Tomelilla about five kilometres to the north. Bus connections are available from Övraby word Bollerup and Ystad.
