Haväng

At the edge of Brösarp's hills - with the vast sandy beaches of Hanö Bay to the north and the characterful coastline beyond Kivik towards Stenshuvud in the south - is Haväng. Savour the word! Only a beautiful place can live up to such a beautiful name. Vast moors, rolling green pastures and a unique flora and fauna.

Haväng has managed to remain original and not built up. Until the mid-1940s, the small fishing village of Knäbäck was located on the field. This was wiped out for the sake of the firing range. Some of the houses were dismantled and given a new life south of Stenshuvud, at Rörum beach and was named The squat houses, a charming, genuine street on the sandy slope facing the Baltic Sea.

Up on the hill north of the mouth of the Verkeån river lies the famous Havängsdösen, which for a long time was completely unknown. A heavy storm in 1843 exposed the doze, which today attracts many visitors. The view from the doze and the meagre sandy heath with trift and sweet-smelling sand cloves is incomparable. You can see Blekinge to the north and past the magnificent outline of Stenshuvud to the south.

Near the doze is the popular Skepparps hostel. Here you can experience sheepdogs at work, listen to bell frogs and see the marsh harrier soaring over the moor. At the Ravlunda there is a bus stop for further transport to Brösarp, Kristianstad or Simrishamn.

The nearest towns with schools and other public services are Brösarp and Kivik, both located about 5 km away. Despite Haväng's enormous popularity for nature experiences beyond the ordinary, hiking, amber exploration, healthy bathing and coastal fishing, it is extremely unusual to feel overcrowded here.
