The sailing ship Klara Marie was built in 1884 in Rönne on Bornholm for freight between Rönne and Copenhagen. The ship's hull has a clipper bow and a small low transom. The type of ship is called "Bornholm clipper" and they were rigged as two-masted schooners.

Klara Marie has mainly sailed in the southern Baltic Sea with Rønne as her home port. In 1965 she was bought in Skillinge by a fishmonger who intended to use her to transport fish scraps for mink feed. At that time she had been equipped with a spark plug engine and was rigged as a galleass.

Klara Marie was registered in Sweden in 1965 as a fishing vessel (SIN 25) but was also defined as sailing with an auxiliary engine. In 1968 she was sold to become a leisure vessel. In 1994 Klara Marie was bought by Föreningen Partsrederiet Klara Marie, which has renovated her and now she is sailing again. She is seen as a representative of the more than 300 ships that have had Skillinge as their home port.

The two-masted schooner and "Bornholm clipper" Klara Marie, with its home harbour in Skillinge, has a hull line that arouses the admiration of many, with its clipper bow and its "beautifully developed transom". The activities around the schooner Klara Marie are today run in association form with over 700 members and Lottbrefs owners.
